Selfie or video check asked of an ad account owner

Meta may ask a person to confirm they are real with a selfie or short video. If this blocks an ad account, do it on a clear phone camera with good light and no filters, and use the same profile that the request appeared on.

Prepare

If it fails

  1. Read the reason if one is shown.
  2. Try again with plain background and light.
  3. Remove glasses or hats if you wear them.
  4. If it keeps failing, request support through the help flow on screen.

Be careful

Only complete checks inside Meta's own pages and apps. Anyone asking you to send the video elsewhere is not Meta.

Official sources

Meta changes its help pages, menus and forms often. Follow the wording on your own screen and the current Help Center. Ads Account Recovery is an independent service and is not affiliated with Meta.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Why was I asked?

Meta does not always say. It can follow unusual activity or a sensitive change.

Is my video stored?

Read Meta's help and privacy pages for how the check is handled.

Can someone do it for me?

No. The check must be you.
