Ad account disabled after adding a new payment card

If an ad account is disabled soon after a new card was added, the card is one thing to check, not a confirmed cause. Meta does not publish which signals it weighs, so read the notice, check the card details and look at what else changed that day.

What to compare

What to do first

  1. Open Business Support Home and screenshot the notice.
  2. Note the date and time the card was added, from the billing history.
  3. Check whether a review is offered and which reason it names.
  4. Do not add more cards while the account is disabled.

If the notice names a policy, not payment

Then the card is probably a coincidence. Answer the reason on the notice, not the one you suspect.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Should I remove the new card?

Not before you have saved the billing history. Removing it can hide the evidence you need for a review.

Does a declined card disable an account?

A failed payment can restrict advertising. Whether it leads to a disabled status depends on the notice, which is the only source for your account.

Can Meta tell me which card signal it saw?

Usually the notice gives a category, not the signal. Plan your review around the category shown.
