The words are not interchangeable
Disabled and restricted are both enforcement states, and people use them loosely. Meta’s help treats them as different.
- Disabled. The ad account is switched off. Ads stop running.
- Restricted. Advertising is limited or blocked. The account may still be there.
A spending limit, a failed payment or a verification request can sit next to either word. Read the asset name as well as the status. The ad account, the business portfolio, the Page and the profile are separate.
What to do with each one
| Notice | What it usually means | First move |
|---|---|---|
| Disabled | The ad account is off | Open Business Support Home, read the reason, fix what it names, request a review once |
| Restricted | Advertising is limited | Open the same screens and follow the limit it names, such as payment, verification or a policy issue |
| No review button | The option is missing on this asset, or you are not an admin of it | Check you are in the right portfolio and on the right asset before you write anything |
The disabled guides and the restricted guides go into each case. A block on the whole portfolio is a different asset: see business portfolio restrictions. Meta’s own pages are listed under sources.
What neither status lets you skip
A new ad account is not a repair for either status. Meta can limit new accounts that are tied to a disabled one. Passwords do not change the notice. Nobody outside Meta can promise the account comes back.
If you want the notice read with you, use the contact page and send the ad account ID. Leave the password out.
